For some users, Canon XF305 is an old camcorder. But equiped advanced and professional technology, it it still popular for us. Along with the XF300, it represents Canon's entry into professional solid state video acquisition. Following on the heels of its widely respected XH line of tape-based camcorders, the XF305 takes advantage of the latest HD technology--along with Canon's newly developed Canon XF MPEG-2 4:2:2 codec--to record Full HD video to widely available Compact Flash cards.

However, the XF305 camera recorded .mxf files may have made many users get into incampatibe troubles. For example "I'm in the process of purchasing a Canon XF305 Professional camcorder which uses MXF format files. I am using Apple Final Cut Pro X with Lion operating system. Is there a tool which can help me when ingesting MXF footages to Final Cut Pro X. Thank you very much."

As we all know the MXF with MPEG-2 codec is not a good editing format for Mac softwares, like FCP X. Some users often meet the similar trouble duto its Mac system and other codecs issues. PS: You can click Edit button and you can deinterlace 1080i MXF files via checking off the Deinterlacing box in the Video Editor.

Step 2: Click on Format bar and move your mouse to Final Cut Pro, in the list, you will see several ProRes Codecs for FCP, you can choose one according to you need.

Step 3: Click Setting and set 30fps as Frame Rate and 1920*1080 as Video Size to get the best effect when you edit Canon MXF footages in FCP X.

Step 4: Click the "conversion" button and the tool will work at once, and you will see the MXF to FCP video format conversion process in the surface.

As soon as the shows in 100%, it means the conversion is over, click "completed" and "open" to get the converted video. Now you can smooyhly put it to FCP X for further editing without any trouble. Have a good time on editing and playing HD movies. And happy new year!
